Valle del Colca (Arequipa) recibió más de 65.000 visitas entre enero y junio

La cifra es menor a la registrada en el 2011 durante el mismo período de tiempo. Para finales del 2012, las autoridades esperan recibir a 200.000 turistas en la zona.

 Según explicó el gerente de la Autoridad Autónoma del Colca (Autocolca) Fredy Jiménez, este descenso en la afluencia de visitantes se debe a las lluvias que golpearon la zona a inicios de año y a la crisis europea, sin embargo, mostró confianza en que el flujo de turistas aumentará.

“Conforme ingresemos a la temporada alta vamos a mejorar la afluencia turística en el Colca, ya vienen las Fiestas Patrias y el aniversario de Arequipa fechas importantes para el turismo”, sostuvo en declaraciones a la agencia Andina.

The number of visitors is lower than the one recorded in 2011 during the same period of time. By the end of 2012, tourist authorities expect to receive 200,000 tourists in the area.

As explained by the manager of the Colca Autonomous Authority (Autocolca) Fredy Jimenez, the decline in the number of visitors is due to the heavy rains that hit the area earlier this year and the European crisis, however, expressed confidence that the flow of tourists will increase.

"As the high season gets closer, we will improve the tourist traffic in the Canyon area, and important dates for tourism as Independence Day and the Anniversary of Arequipa are coming soon as well," he said in his statements to Andina agency.
